Bio

Cheng CHEN, born in Jingdezhen, China, in 1988, obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2009 in bioengineering from Dalian University of Technology, China. The final 4 months of his bachelor thesis, on the improving erythromycin production by genetic engineering of industrial Sac. erythrea strain, were supervised by Dr. Xinyi He at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Since fall of 2009, he is a master student at State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism, Shanghai under dual mentorship of Prof. Zixin Deng and Dr. Xinyi He. He has done one project on metabolic engineering and one on protein engineering. And he is currently focused on combining protein and metabolic engineering to produce “unnatural” natural products.
