Recently, two breakthrough on biological meaning of DNA phosphorothioation were revealed by Pro.Deng's team in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. "A novel host-specific restriction system associated with DNA backbone S-modification in Salmonella" was published in Nucleic Acids Research as a featured article, while "Cleavage of Phosphorothioated DNA and Methylated DNA by the Type IV Restriction Endonuclease ScoMcrA." was accepted by Plos Genetics and reviewed as "significant and epoch-making".
